CILT Covid-19 Bulletin 5  CILT International has provided a link to several articles written by members around the world showing how different countries are coping with Covid-19 in relation to the management of their logistics. Well worth a read if you have time:   https://mailchi.mp/8d7ea90a118f/cilt-covid-19-bulletin-2909353
Spare a thought  shippingAccording to an article written by Dave MacIntyre in the recent “Shipping Gazette”, the shipping industry has been hit hard by the impact of COVID-19.

With the possible exception of tankers being used for floating storage, all other aspects of shipping appear to have been affected – by as much as a 60% drop in revenues.  State aid has been very welcome by many players. The UK has invested £35m in the sector and South Korea US$1 billion!  Hapag-Lloyd saw its net result fall by nearly 75%.

Rather than getting into price wars, the industry is reacting by “blanking” (cancelling) sailings to reduce capacity wastage.

It is hoped that volumes will rebound from July 2020.
