Having been a member of CILT NZ for almost 20 years, I have seen some changes within our organisation – but, in my view, not enough. I am determined that during the two years of my presidency, positive change will see our members be very proud of our organisation – and motivated to recommend it to others.

The annual CILT NZ awards recognise outstanding achievements within the transport, logistics and supply chain sectors, and are made for the 12 months ending 30 June each year.

High-level strategy and planning documents are unambiguous. Transport is an urgent public health matter – the Government Policy Statement on Land Transport 2018–2022 says, for example: ‘Reversing New Zealand’s current trauma trends requires a transport system that is designed for people, and one that considers their safety as the top priority.’

The New Zealand government’s decision to invest $94.8 million to improve the rail line between Swanson and Whangarei in Northland underlines the clear vision it has for rail in New Zealand.

Work to complete the twin tunnels beneath the Auckland Chief Post Office in Lower Queen Street is nearing the final stages, with the intricate job of transferring the listed building onto its new permanent foundations successfully completed

Planning is underway for this outstanding event, to be held over several days in Auckland, with the Forum and Awards on Friday 23 October.
