CILT Central Section Welcome people to a three-session visit to key sites in Palmerston North. Numbers are limited to please email chaircentral@cilt.co.nz to request places. Please indicated if you are interested in shared transport within the region. The programme for the session is:
- 11am – Arrive at Primary Connect (1-35 Alderson Drive, Palmerston North)
- 11:30-12:30 – CEDA presentation
- 12:30-1pm – Light Lunch
- 1pm-2pm – Primary Connect DC Tour
- 2pm-2:30pm – Transit to Toyota DC (29A Roberts Line Palmerston North)
- 2:30-3:30pm – Toyota DC Tour
ABOUT THE CEDA SESSION
The team at CEDA will present an insightful overview of the Manawatu region and a closer look into Te Utanganui (Central New Zealand Distribution Hub), our key regional project that is critical to driving economic growth in the Manawatu.
ABOUT THE PRIMARY CONNECT DC SESSION
Primary Connect is the supply chain side of Woolworths New Zealand. The 38,000 sqm site opened in August 2021 and services 60 supermarkets in the lower North Island from its strategic location. The DC also provides redundancy in the wider network in times of emergency as demonstrated during the Covid outbreak. The DC houses approximately 7200 SKUs, picks between 420,000 and 580,000 cartons per week depending on the season and employs approximately 200 people. The DC is state of the art and achieves a 4 green start rating with energy and waste efficiency.
TOYOTA NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTRE
Toyota occupies 37,000 sq metres. hey process and manage over 53,000 active car parts in Palmerston North that connect nationwide to our Toyota dealerships. They have built a unique inbound staging and distribution freight model. The location and investment in logistics hub in Palmerston North is crucial for customer service and brand success. During the session they will overview key aspects that make it all happen.
