Webinar: A Bright Future for Passenger Rail in the USA?

  • This event has passed.
We are pleased to present the first installment in our latest webinar series, exploring the latest insights and developments within the transport, logistics and supply chain industries.

Presented by Andrew Young, FCILT, our webinar explores the complexities of passenger rail within the USA.

With significant investment being committed to improve passenger rail services, an ambitious program to evaluate new routes and the development of various high-speed rail corridors is the US experiencing a rail renaissance?  Find out in our interactive session.

Overview

The US passenger rail industry is undergoing a historic period of change. For decades the industry, and particularly intercity rail services, have been in decline, showing little growth in ridership, train service or routes since the 1970s. The US has the world’s largest rail network but the country’s passenger rail sector has fallen behind countries in Europe and Asia.

Our webinar examines if recent developments can successfully reverse this decline. Unprecedented levels of public funding, from federal and state government, are being directed towards improving existing services, developing new routes, and investing in the nation’s rail infrastructure. The private sector is also developing conventional and high-speed rail services.

During the webinar, we will explore the various projects and initiatives underway, and the challenges they face, to consider if a positive transformation of passenger rail is achievable in the US.
