SUMMARY:Webinar - Supply Chain Financing and Small- to Medium-Sized Suppliers [University of Auckland Business School]
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to hear from Thomas Choi\, AT&T Professor of the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. \nSupply chain financing (SCF) is about using the supply chain to fund the organization and using the organization to fund the supply chain. We will consider how large corporations have implemented SCF through reverse factoring and dynamic discounting with the help of financial technology companies (fintechs). We will also consider how small- to medium-sized (SME) suppliers that operate in the long tail of the supply chain have largely been left out of such SCF initiatives. Fintechs working with large buying companies now offer ways for SME suppliers to get paid earlier. The distributed ledger technology helps in this regard and this approach is often called deep-tier financing (DTF). \nEvent details \nDate: Tuesday 3 May 2022 \nTime: 12 pm NZST \nClick here to register \nBiography \nThomas Choi is the AT&T Professor of the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. As a researcher of supply chain management\, he has studied the upstream side of supply chains\, in which a buying company interfaces with many suppliers organized into various forms of networks. He has published articles in the Academy of Management Executive\, Decision Sciences Journal\, Decision Support Systems\, Harvard Business Review\, Journal of Management\, Journal of Operations Management\, Journal of Supply Chain Management\, Production and Operations Management\, and others. \nHe currently serves as co-director of the Complex Adaptive Supply Networks Research Accelerator (CASN-RA)\, an international research group of scholars interested in supply networks. He has also worked with numerous public and private organizations including Honda\, LG Electronics\, Samsung\, Toyota\, Volvo\, the U.S. Department of Energy\, and a federal government think tank. He has co-authored three practitioner books on supply management including one recently published on Supply Chain Financing. Most recently\, he served as the lead editor of the Oxford Handbook of Supply Chain Management. \nFrom 2014 to 2019\, he served as the Harold E. Fearon Chair of Purchasing Management and Executive Director of CAPS Research\, a joint venture between Arizona State University and the Institute for Supply Management. From 2011 to 2014\, he served as co-editor in chief of the Journal of Operations Management. Currently\, he is involved in developing a supply-chain research center in Ghana\, Africa\, as part of a $15 million grant from USAID. \nIn 2012\, he was recognized as a Distinguished Operations Management Scholar by the OM Division at the Academy of Management. Since 2018\, he has been listed as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate’s Web of Science for having “multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year.” In 2019\, he was ranked one among the “top 50 researchers by publication score”\, based on SCM papers appearing in a set of seven leading journals over a fifteen-year period (see Table 1 in Babbar et al. 2019). \nIf you are not already a regular visitor to the Centre for Supply Chain Management and would like to check out our website and LinkedIn page\, please click here: CSCM website and LinkedIn page. \nIf you would like to be added to our mailing list\, please email Alisha at: a.castelino@auckland.ac.nz \nIf you would like to unsubscribe from our Database\, please reply to this email with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject. \nFor more information\, please contact: Alisha Castelino a.castelino@auckland.ac.nz \nBest regards\, \nThe CSCM Team

SUMMARY:OMNICHANNEL LOGISTICS - THE KEY TO SURVIVAL IN A COVID WORLD
DESCRIPTION:How to use Omnichannel Logistics Design to stay resilient\, responsive and agile in an era of disruption and uncertainty. \n  \nAbout this Event\n\n\nFrom buying a high end smartphone to the purchase of a simple bucket and mop\, shopping online has increased exponentially during Covid. There has been an equally significant rise however\, in the number of complaints from end consumers – goods advertised that are no longer available\, extensive delays in processing orders / receiving goods\, orders suddenly being cancelled and difficulties getting a refund. \nThe easy part of eCommerce is launching an online presence\, opening up a call centre and putting new salespeople on the road. The hard part\, is ensuring the supply chain has the capability\, capacity and processes in place to deliver on orders and ensure a ‘delightful’ customer experience every time…and do it all at speed while under the constant stress of operating in a Covid-soaked environment. Businesses more than ever now\, need to accommodate the many different ‘channels’ through which customers want to interact with them. Empowered by the phone in their pocket\, customers are hopping between channels\, comparing products and services and expecting time sensitive deliveries / free shipping as a god-given right. It is no longer a multichannel service world we live in\, its an ‘Omnichannel’ World. \nCome hear from Mark Ginnever of Intent Group how Omnichannel Service Delivery and Omnichannel Logistics can help you as a transport and logistics service provider stay ahead in our Covid ‘New Normal’. Learn how an Omnichannel approach to your business provides a seamless\, unified and contextual experience for your customers / clients\, irrespective of the device they use and the channel they use to communicate and interact with you. \nRegister now for this highly relevant webinar. As a CILT member\, ensure your business and your role remains resilient\, responsive and agile in an era of disruption and uncertainty.

SUMMARY:The ‘Circular Economy’ – Prosperity through Sustainability
