SUMMARY:Panel Discussion: Transport Planning Factoring in Demand Side Trends
DESCRIPTION:Panel Discussion: Transport Planning Factoring in Demand Side Trends\n  \n Tuesday\, April 29\, 2025 \n Time: 12:30 to 1:30 pm AEST \n  \nThe Transport Planning process aims to design and organise transportation systems to ensure efficient and sustainable movement of people and goods. It helps shape how a community or city grows by evaluating everything from streets and highways to cargo ships\, public transit and bike lanes. Influencing everything from business to recreation to quality of life\, it helps shape future policies\, goals\, investments\, and spatial planning designs for policy makers\, industry and researchers. \n  \nThis webinar will have presentations from leading experts across Australia including Anthony Vine\, Director at NineSquared Economics and Commercial Advisers\, Ben Taylor\, Senior Associate at SGS Economics and Cam Tran\, Director\, Global Trade Advisory at Ernst and Young\, elaborating on this topic considering factors like business case rationale\, economic analysis\, land use\, system equity\, underlying supply chains\, trade and logistics influences\, data and technology\, policy frameworks\, travel patterns\, community needs\, infrastructure requirements and user benefits. \n  \nIt is important to have all parties on the table thinking through this important topic\, to drive an integrated ecosystem approach in understanding the needs to addressing the gap and devising sustainable solutions. With macro trends such as growing population\, concentration in major capital cities\, distance challenges to surrounding neighbours in APAC\, rising cost of living and labour shortages in key industries\, Australia is uniquely placed at addressing this topic with government buy-in\, and a renewed focus on efficiency\, sustainability and integration. \n  \nJoin the CILTA NSW section for this insightful discussion! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration Instructions \n  \nMembers and Guests/non-members: Please complete the registration form\, click “Continue as Guest” button and proceed to checkout. Attendees can register other participants too. Check your inbox for registration confirmation. \n  \nPlease feel free to contact us at admin@cilta.com.au if you need assistance.

SUMMARY:After 5's with Damian Beil
DESCRIPTION:Design for Supply: Linking product development and supply chain functions for assurance of supply \n Recent supply chain disruptions have motivated firms to look for proactive ways to mitigate their supply risk. Design for Supply is an approach whereby supply risk management is integrated into product development processes. During this talk\, we’ll explore how long-term supply risks can be exacerbated by well-intended product design decisions\, see how leading firms combat these risks through cross-functional collaboration\, and discuss risk management layering strategies and business case development. If time allows\, we’ll touch on research done in partnership with a major automotive company designed to help their product development staff work better with supply chain\, using behavioural decision-making experiments in a controlled laboratory setting. \n  \nEvent details \n  \nDate:   Thursday\, 20 February 2025 \nTime:   4.30 pm Registration; 5 pm Presentation followed at 6 pm by networking \nVenue:   Room 040B\, Level 0\,  Sir Owen G Glenn Building\, 12 Grafton Road\, Auckland (parking available beneath the building) \nCost:   $30 (incl. SUMMARY:Trimax Site Visit : Supply Chain & Logistics in Export Manufacturer
DESCRIPTION:Trimax Site Visit : Supply Chain & Logistics in Export Manufacturer\n\nVenue: Trimax Mowing Systems\, 76 Maleme Street\, Tauranga\n\nDate: Thursday 20th February 2025 7:15am – 9:00am\n\nBooking Link: https://www.eventspronto.co.nz/CILT-Trimax\n\n\nThis Tauranga business designs its own products\, sources components worldwide\, has its own manufacturing and distribution centers in 4 countries and distributes to over 40 countries. \nThis is no small feat when you consider the largest product in the range is 10.54m wide x 2.74m long x 4.45m high and the smallest part supplied is a 6mm nut. \nAfter 43 years of operation from its Tauranga headquarters the company also has its own manufacturing\, assembly and warehousing facilities in Australia\, the UK and the USA Trimax runs its own distribution in these markets and has an established network of distributors in continental Europe\, Asia\, the Middle East and South Africa. \nThe niche nature of this business means it may fly under the radar locally\, but has a world-class reputation in the fine grass mowing industry and well known in the local export industry\, where it has been awarded local exporter of the year in 1993\, 2003 and 2015. \nIf you get excited about supply chain and logistics\, love innovation or love international business\, this visit is for you. Here’s why: \n\nOver 7\,000 components are needed to manufacture the current models in the Trimax range.\nDesigned for longevity the company stocks parts and consumables (blades\, bolts and bearings) to service every model of mower it has produced in its 43 year history.\nAll products are designed to be:\n\nconstructed of sub-assemblies and components that collapse down into a shipping container for international transport.\n moved efficiently from the assembly plant to the customer by truck – catering for the variable loading and carrying conditions in each country serviced.\nroad-legal when attached to a tractor and driven on the road in all jurisdictions the mower is destined for (in some models the road-legal kit is an optional extra to save expense for users who never go off-grass.)\n\n\n\nNumbers are strictly limited\, so register now to avoid disappointment.

SUMMARY:CILT Central Section AGM and Networking Event
DESCRIPTION:Time of Use Charging Presentation\n5.15pm AGM – CILT central section committee \n5.30pm Presentation on Time of Use Charging – Mehmet Ahmet (WSP) (CMILT) \n6pm Networking with refreshments \nVenue: WSP Consultants Presentation Room \nLevel 10\, Majestic Centre\, 100 Willis St Wellington\n(Use lifts to the lower levels which are at the back fronting onto Boulcott St) \nRSVP by COB Monday 10 February to:\nMichelle McCormick\, ph 021 526-473 or email michelle.mccormick@infrastructure.org.nz \nMehmet Ahmet is an experienced Major Projects Director at WSP\, having recently just moved back to New Zealand. \nWith over 20 years experience\, Mem has successfully led a broad range of complex projects\, technically challenging and also stakeholder and politically charged projects. Some recent examples is East West Rail\, a $14bn rail improvement project between Oxford to Cambridge UK\, Project Director for the Cambridgeshire Mayoral Authority leading on their complex portfolio of projects to support the $100bn growth agenda for the region\, the A40 study which meets HS2 and Old Oak Common\, was the Strategic Lead for Transport for London on reimaging the stretch of road between Paddington and Hanger Lane (crica11km) with Road Tunnels and surface improvements\, and more recently taking the charge on the recent Cambridge Congestion Question\, Making Connections in the UK. \nIntroducing a time of use charge in New Zealand is a bold move and one that should be considered carefully. By discouraging the use of private vehicles during certain periods of the day\, a congestion charge can reduce traffic jams\, lower carbon emissions\, and improve air quality. The revenue generated can then be best reinvested into enhancing our infrastructure. However\, it’s crucial to consider the potential economic impact (good and bad) on residents and businesses\, ensuring that any policy is implemented with fairness and public support. Overall\, with careful planning and community engagement\, a congestion charge could contribute to a more efficient transport system. Mehmet will provide his insights into the work he has undertaken.
