DESCRIPTION:We are entering a period of significant change with AI\, digitisation and automation driving both excitement and fear within our ranks. Excitement in that many of our pain points and challenges\, our tedious and administrative tasks\, will disappear\, and fear in that many are worried about their skills and job security along with wanting to better to understand\, “what’s in it for me” (WIFM). \n\n\n\nThe presentation will predict how this will play out\, and moreover how we should prepare our teams and ourselves for the future. \n\n\n\nEvent details \n\n\n\nDate: Thursday\, 16 April 2026 Time: 5-6 pm followed by networking drinks. Venue: Room 310\, Level 3\, Sir Owen G Glenn Building\, 12 Grafton Road\, Auckland 1010 (pay parking available beneath the building). \n\n\n\nAbout Richard Marshall \n\n\n\nRich Marshall joined Air New Zealand in March 2023\, as the General Manager Supply Chain overseeing the Supply Chain & Procurement teams in Auckland\, Christchurch\, Nelson\, and Supply Chain and Ground Support Equipment operations across the Group. \n\n\n\nRich spent 25 years in the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF)\, predominantly on No 40 and 42 Squadrons as a Navigator. Rich was a project manager for both the C-130 Hercules Avionics upgrade and the acquisition of the Boeing 757s. After a diplomatic posting to Washington DC\, USA\, Richard was appointed the Base Commander at RNZAF Base Auckland. \n\n\n\nPrior to joining Air New Zealand\, Rich was the General Manager of Supply Chain at Douglas Pharmaceuticals and prior to this\, was the Head of Supply Chain and Procurement at SKYCITY. \n\n\n\nRichard holds a BCom (Management) from Massey University\, a Certificate in Sustainability Strategy from Cambridge University and a Certificate in Digital Supply Chain from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and attended the University of Auckland’s Strategic Supply Chain Programme\, and NZPICS’ CPIM course.  In 2025\, Richard was awarded the Safeguard Safety Leader of the Year Award. \n\n\n\nRichard is married to Melissa who is a lawyer and IR/ER Specialist and has two adult children\, Hugh who is a lawyer in Sydney and Rosa who is on the DHL Supply Chain Graduate programme.  In his spare time\, he enjoys traveling\, hiking\, biking and swimming.  He also mentors several up-and-coming Supply Chain practitioners. \n\n\n\nThis event is proudly sponsored by More Optimal: \nClick here to book!

DESCRIPTION:This joint presentation brings together three key government agencies – NZTA\, Tauranga City Council\, and Bay of Plenty Regional Council – to provide a strategic overview of how they are working collaboratively to tackle Tauranga’s transport challenges. The session will outline each organisation’s current strategic work programme and their shared role in planning for the city’s rapid growth. Presenters will address the unique and collective strategies guiding investment and planning\, the challenges of urban expansion\, network capacity\, and funding\, and the opportunities for integrated\, future-focused solutions. \nAt the event the Council’s will be hosting  CILT and ENZ TG. A finger-food breakfast will be provided. \nSpeakers\nSusan Collins\, NZTA \nSusan Collins is the Regional Manager NZTA for System Design for the Waikato and Bay of Plenty and has been in the role for 8 months.  Prior to that Susan worked in the Local Government Partnerships team in NZTA.  Susan’s background is working in the government sector with 20+ years experience in leadership roles in a number of ministries and agencies.  Susan’s work focus is as sponsor of the Roads of National significance for the Waikato / Bay of Plenty\, working with local government on RLTP development and delivery and maintaining relationships across the sector. \nCole O’Keefe\, NZTA \nCole O’Keefe is the Lead System Planner for the NZ Transport Agency covering the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. His role focuses on aligning regional and national transport decisions with long-term goals and government priorities. With nearly 17 years at the Agency\, he has worked across environmental consenting\, investment advisory\, land transport planning and strategic partnership roles. A career highlight was leading the Urban Form and Transport Initiative\, advancing integrated planning that connects land use and transport to deliver better outcomes for communities in the Western Bay of Plenty subregion. \nSarah Dove\, TCC \nSarah Dove is the Team Leader – Transport Strategy and Infrastructure at Tauranga City Council (TCC). With 20 years of experience in traffic and transportation management across New Zealand and the UK\, Sarah brings a strong mix of technical expertise and strategic leadership. Her background spans business case development\, transport planning and assessment\, and transport strategy and policy. Sarah leads a diverse portfolio of transport and infrastructure initiatives\, with a focus on enabling sustainable urban growth. \nAndrew Williams\, BOPRC \nAndrew Williams is the Manager\, Transport Planning at Bay of Plenty Regional Council. He leads the Council’s role in planning\, funding\, and contracting public transport across the region. This includes working closely with Waka Kotahi and territorial authority partners like Tauranga City Council to align service delivery with urban growth\, government direction\, and community needs. Andrew focuses on strategic programmes that improve customer outcomes\, deliver value for ratepayers\, and support a more sustainable and integrated transport system.
